چکیده

Algorithms for classification are proposed based on criteria (information entropy and its production). The feasibility of replacing a given anaesthetic by similar ones in the composition of a complex drug is studied. Some local anaesthetics currently in use are classified using characteristic chemical properties of different portions of their molecules. Many classification algorithms are based on information entropy. When applying these procedures to sets of moderate size, an excessive number of results appear compatible with data, and this number suffers a combinatorial explosion. However, after the equipartition conjecture, one has a selection criterion between different variants resulting from classification between hierarchical trees. According to this conjecture, for a given charge or duty, the best configuration of a flowsheet is the one in which the entropy production is most uniformly distributed. Information entropy and principal component analyses agree. The periodic law of anaesthetics has not the rank of the laws of physics: (1) the properties of anaesthetics are not repeated; (2) the order relationships are repeated with exceptions. The proposed statement is: The relationships that any anaesthetic p has with its neighbour p + 1 are approximately repeated for each period.

Relationship between the passage of local anaesthetics across the blood-brain barrier and their effects on the central nervous system.

The transfer of procaine and lignocaine from blood to cerebrospinal fluid (c.si.) was studied in six patients and in twelve dogs. Local anaesthetics appeared very rapidly in the c.s.f. after intravenous administration. Within 20 minutes, a c.s.f./plasma ultrafiltrate ratio around 0.9 was reached. Para-aminobenzoic acid, a procaine metabolite, appeared in c.si. later than procaine. This is expla...

Comparison of the vasoactivity of amide and ester local anaesthetics. An intradermal study.

The vascular effects and duration of action of two ester-linked local anaesthetics, procaine and amethocaine, and four amide-linked local anaesthetics, cinchocaine, lignocaine, mepivacaine and prilocaine, were investigated in 10 volunteers by intradermal injection using a double-blind technique. Procaine and amethocaine produced marked vasodilatation; weal formation was observed at 80% of the a...

The Rare Case of a Probably True IgE-Mediated Allergy to Local Anaesthetics

The majority of immediate type adverse reactions to local anaesthetics seem to be non-IgE-mediated. We report a case of a 31-year-old woman, who developed conjunctivitis and conjunctival erythema immediately after intrauterine application of a local anaesthetic. Skin prick testing and intradermal testing were done with lidocaine, mepivacaine, and procaine. Intradermal testing showed positive re...

Procaine impairs learning and memory consolidation in the honeybee.

In vertebrates local anaesthetics lead to various learning deficits, depending on the site and time of injection. In this study we show the effects of the local anaesthetic procaine on learning and memory in an invertebrate, the honeybee. Reversible blocking of neuronal processes leads to different memory deficits depending on the time window during which the local anaesthesia is in effect.

Periodic Indices of Serum Amyloid A Following Rumenotomy with Assorted Local Anaesthetics and Sutures in the Sahel Goat

Objective- This study aims at validating the use of serum amyloid A (SAA) as biomarkers of surgical stress using Quantitative ELISA in the Sahel goats. The experiment evaluated SAA profiles of Sahel goats post Diazepam-Lidocaine (DLC) and Diazepam-Bupivacaine (DBC) local anaesthesia. Expressions of SAA in the Sahel goat post rumen skin clamp fixation techniques of rumenotomy wi...
